Bayan Airag Exploration LLC aims to operate with minimum negative impact to the environment, to treat local residents with respect and dignity, and to coexist peacefully. We strive to respect and protect local culture and traditions. The company carries out environmentally friendly activities at all stages. Thus the engagement with local community is the main principle to ensure Bayan Airag Exploration’s sustainable development and is inseparable part of its management structure.
Policy
The policy on sustainable development and community relations complies with international and Mongolian laws and regulations, as well as ethical standards. This policy is being reevaluated over the course of mining operations and improved. Bayan Airag utilizes all of its resources to ensure successful implementation of sustainable development policy.
Sustainable development, community relations policy objectives
• Carry out environmentally friendly activities, and prevent any negative impacts
• Respect culture and customs of local community
• Treat local community with respect and dignity

Bayan Airag Exploration established Community Relations Department with a team of 13 people. The team is responsible for liaising with government ministries and agencies, local government offices, citizens on issues of permitting and licensing for the operations and ensuring compliance with prevailing legislation at all regulatory levels. The department holds multiple meetings and training at bagh and soum levels to capture local community voices.
Local Development Projects
Bayan Airag has a significant impact on the development of infrastructure in Zavkhan Province. The Company has been implementing many development projects aimed at improving infrastructure in Durvuljin and Erdenesaikhan soums and ensuring independent development. We strive to maintain sustainable partnership that is based on mutual trust, transparency, protection of mutual interests and joint aspirations.

Since the start of operations in Durvuljin soum, Bayan Airag Exploration always recognized the importance of social responsibility and made contributions to local development. Local Development Projects
Bayan Airag Exploration has been working with local government offices of Durvuljin and Erdeneksaikhan soums as well as their local citizens and business entities under cooperation agreements.
In accordance with the agreements, 1.79 billion MNT were invested in Durvuljin and Erdenekhairkhan soums between 2013-2018.
